Locations in Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms are the various areas that can be discovered and explored in the game. In Alaloth, players will venture forth through the Four Kingdoms of Plamen. Within each Kingdom, there are plenty of towns, cities, dungeon-esque fighting areas and other points of interests. This page covers a list of all the locations of the game.
Navigating the World Map in Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms
Overworld exploration in Alaloth is presented in a format similar to tabletop board games where players possess a "Pawn" piece that represents their character. They can move this piece across the open World Map to get to places and enter towns, cities and other points of interest. Upon entering these locations, players take control of their character and standard exploration ensues within the game's sometimes large, closed-off environments.
Aside from settlements inhabited by the four major Races, there are also hostile places of interest that can be discovered. These are known as Fighting Areas and within them, players will encounter a host of hostile creatures and NPCs.
Fighting Areas are thematically similar to dungeons in other titles and the majority of combat takes place in these locations. Many of the game's Quests will take you to Fighting Areas to complete their objectives. These places are integral not only to character development, but are also the key to progressing in the main campaign.
As they journey throughout Plamen, players will encounter other Pawn pieces. Some are Merchants peddling their wares to travelers on the road, some are guards protecting city outskirts, and others are hostile Enemy Pawns ranging from Brigands and Outlaws to Spiders, Trolls and other monsters. These hostiles will chase the player down as they travel across the roads, rivers, mountians and open fields of the World Map. If the player's Pawn meets an Enemy Pawn, a brief conversation will take place which will typically proceed into combat in a random Fighting Area.
Players start out in one of the Four Kingdoms depending on their chosen Race. Humans start out in the Kingdom of Edherest in the southeast, Elves hail from the Republic of Larastir to the northwest, Dwarves begin their journey in the frozen mountains in the Expanse of Karak-Hohn to the northeast, and Orcs begin from the barren wastelands in the Desolation of Baga to the southwest. There is also a Fifth Kingdom right in the center of the four main Kingdoms. This is Alaloth's domain which is the main objective of the main campaign and is inaccessible until significant progress has been made.
